In January 2004, Arianne MacBean & The Big Show Co. premiered Ways of Moving, at Highways Performance Space in Santa Monica to critical acclaim. It was an evening of dances that explored the act of moving and being moved - both physically and emotionally. Ways of Moving was a series of trios and solos that featured three characters with different approaches to dance. The performance featured Elizabeth Hoefner (who played, “I Dance Who I Am”) Eliza Pfister (who played, “I Dance What I Cannot Say”) and Ken Datugan (who played, “I Dance What I Dream Were True”). Utilizing minimal spoken word and recorded music by Frank Sinatra, Radiohead, Greek folk music and much more, the show emphasized movement and its emotional roots.
